4 Tips for Planning Your Company’s Move
Your company is relocating to a brand-new office building, and you want this transition to be as smooth as possible. These four tips should help you plan out your company’s big move.
1. Get a Shipping Container
Instead of getting multiple moving vans, you may want to consider purchasing a shipping container for your relocation. It might surprise you to find out that you can use shipping containers for moving house in place of standard moving vans. Shipping containers can fit a lot of items inside of them, so you will have plenty of room for hefty photocopiers, ergonomic office chairs and heavy boxes full of documents without any trouble. A delivery truck can pick up, transport and offload your shipping container at your brand-new location.
You can also use the shipping container for on-site storage for any items that aren’t ready to be moved in. You don’t have to keep them in an off-site storage rental that’s far from the new office.
2. Donate Unwanted Items
Don’t keep unwanted items and let them clutter up your office floorspace (or your shipping container’s storage space). Donate your office furniture to charitable organizations as long as they’re still in good condition. There are bound to be businesses, schools and freelancers that would benefit from this used furniture, along with any electronics and office equipment. 3. Change Your Address Early
Before you move into your new location, you need to send out notices of your change of address. Otherwise, you will continue to have important documents delivered to your old location. You will have partners show up at the wrong building for scheduled meetings. Simple miscommunication could cause a lot of problems.
So, notify suppliers, clients and business partners about the change of address as soon as possible. You will also want to contact any banks, utility companies, insurance companies and governing bodies that your company is involved with. They will need to know this information.
